Only for those who feel like reading.
Translations: This is a bit lengthy.

I was recently reading a verse from the book of Revelation:
“Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.” ~Revelation 1:3

Those are powerful words. Each time I venture into the book of Revelation it seems that I discover something that I had not seen or truly taken in before.
What caught my eye here was, “READS ALOUD”. Certainly this would pertain to anyone who would read this book to others and therefore the verse promises a blessing for the ones who read it aloud and to the ones who hear. The passage goes on to add that in reading or hearing; the blessing ONLY comes when those written words are taken to heart.

Let me digress here. Having read the verse somewhere this week, I had to open the Bible to make sure that I was reading it correctly. I could not remember having ever read the words *READS ALOUD*. Sure enough it was correct.

Deciding that it was best to pray and let the Lord guide me. Today I began to read this book aloud. So far I haven’t gotten past Revelations 2:7.

This is where the Spirit beckoned me to stop and study:
Revelation 2:4-6
“Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.”

Amazing God! When I went to Him in prayer it was to confess and repent for having become slack and lazy in my ministry; blaming everything on the busy business of life. Which I knew to be so false. It was after that prayer I began to read aloud the book.

“Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.” These words struck me so hard and yet I knew the Lord had heard my prayer of confession and repentance as I listened to my own voice reading His words and instructing me on what I must do. AWESOME GOD!

Okay so you ask… what was the deal with those Nicolaitans?
Well my eyes are opened. Over the past 8 months I have been encountering more and more often people who are practicing spirituality in this way. One foot in the Church and the other in the world. Many are intermingling their pagan, universal spiritualism and world religions with “the Way” or the Christian faith. This only serves up a fruitless effort. Jesus actually says He hates these acts. We as Christians must have faith in the Word of God alone and Jesus is the Word of God. We don’t have to add any flavor or seasoning to make it more savory, powerful or to ensure that we are fully covered. When we do this we are in effect showing that we have little or no faith in the CROSS! We need not consult our horoscope, or the long island medium. We need only trust the Word. We do not need energy crystals, a rabbits foot or a medallion… we require only FAITH in God’s Word. When we utilize these other methods in concert with our Christian faith we are actually performing the very Nicolaitan practices that our Lord declares that He hates.

Amazing God. Many of you may have noticed that I have been writing a lot lately about “being the Church”, Atheism, faith in the universe and striving to do good deeds apart from the Lord. I noticed that also.

All I can say is this is what I was led to write and post. Knowing that many of those who I know and love are embracing some of these practices. Knowing that some may shun me, feel anger towards me or cut me out of their lives… was I a little gun shy? YES! But where He leads me, I have learned I must follow. Even if it seems detrimental to the flesh… spiritually I know it is no more than unfounded fear and it is more wise and beneficial to heed the call of the Holy Spirit than to worry about the judgement of mankind.

If you would like to know more about this verse I would refer you to this webpage which simplifies it in understandable terms ( http://tinyurl.com/lstq9g7 ), I would urge you to pray, read/research the Bible Revelation 1-2, and let the Lord lead you… please don’t take my word.

In the event that you do not research this past what I have written here, but you feel convicted to recommit and have a more deeply intimate walk with Christ; I will share the prayer and confession that closed the page, in hopes that you will consider making them your own ♥

My Prayer for Today:
Lord, after what I’ve read today, I don’t want to allow any spirit of compromise in my life! I now understand that the doctrine of the Nicolaitans is compromise with the world. Lord, I don’t want to live with one foot in the church and another foot in the world. I want to break free completely from the world and its influence so I can give myself completely to Your cause! I want to be holy, to live in a way that pleases You, and to experience Your power in my life. Today I am renewing my commitment to You all over again! I turn from the world, and I am running to You! I pray this in Jesus’ name!

My Confession for Today:
I confess that I am free from the world! I do not walk in compromise! I am determined to live a committed and holy life before the Lord. As a result of my firm determination to walk with God, I have power over sin, power over satan, and power when I pray. God’s Word promises that if I draw near to Him, He will draw near to me. I am drawing nearer and nearer to God every day, so I am confident that His Presence in my life is getting stronger too! I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name!
